From Khao San Road

Former Backpacers' Paradise - Khao San Road

E-mail Print PDF

Khao San Street of Bangkok has been famous as 'Backpackers' Heaven' until recently, but it is gradually becoming a casual town for Thai youngsters.

Most chartered buses arrive at Khao San. If you buy a bus ticket for Bangkok at a travel agent (not at the bus station), your bus is likely to be bound for Khao San Road.

Some travelers staying at a guesthouse in Kaosan area may feel sick and tired of the noisy, dirty, and dangerous atmosphere of the area and the guesthouses there. If you feel the same, you can 'evacuate' anytime to our safe, quiet, and clean guesthouse and its neighborhood :-) We have had such guests occasionally.

This section gives you the detailed instruction to move from Khao San Road to Sukhumvit On-nut Guesthouse (Petit Hotel Cedarberg).

Public Bus No.2 or 511 (8-22 Bahts)

With just one ride of Public Bus No.511, you can reach Sukhumvit On-nut Guesthouse (Petit Hotel Cedarberg) from Khao San area.

  1. Take 2 or 511 from the nearest bus stop to Kaosan Road (located at the northern side of the wide street).
  2. When you take Bus 511, please pay attention to a signboard at the bottom right corner of the front glass of buses. If they have some signboard (written in Thai, approximately 60cm x 40cm) behind the front glass (it reads "taan duan" or "expressway"), the bus goes expressway and does not come to 'Sukhumvit 89' bus stop.
  3. You must take 2 or 511 with no signboard behind its front glass.
  4. Buses 2 and 511 directly takes you to the nearest bus stop to our guesthouse.
  5. Get off at the second bus stop past On Nut Station.
  6. From the bus stop, follow the instruction in the From Sukhumvit 89 Bus Stop section.
  • It takes 30-90 minutes depending on traffic conditions.
  • Fares are 8.5 Bahts for No. 2, and 22 Bahts for No. 511.
  • Try to avoid using a bus during the rush hours (6:30-9:30, 17:00-20:00).

Motorcycle Taxi (60-80 Bahts) & Train (40 Bahts)

The fastest way from Kaosan to On-nut Guesthouse (Petit Hotel Cedarberg) is to use a motorcycle taxi and BTS Sky Train.

  1. Take a motorcycle taxi to Rachathewii BTS station (50-60 Bahts). If you have a big backpack or suitcase, you may use a bus 2, 79, or 511 (7-18 Bahts), or a taxi (55-100 Bahts) from Kaosan to Rachathewii BTS station.
  2. Take a BTS train to On Nut (40 Bahts). It takes approximately 20 minutes.
  3. From On Nut Station, follow the instruction in the 'From On Nut BTS Station' section.

Metered Taxi (130-180 Bahts)

E-mail Print PDF
  • It takes 25-120 minutes depending on traffic conditions.
  • Fares may be 130-180 Bahts.
  • Try to avoid using a taxi during the rush hours (6:30-9:30, 17:00-20:00).
  • Remember. All taxis are metered.
  • Kaosan is notorious for rip-off taxis. So if a driver does not want to use a meter, just forget him and find another taxi.
